Hamilton at Academy of Music

Making its first appearance in in 2015 and running for almost 10 years now, Hamilton took Broadway by storm with its revolutionary approach. From Ron Chernow’s book about Alexander Hamilton, we learn the life of Alexander Hamilton’s early years and rise to power as one of the Founding Fathers of the USA. This is a profound story that is both founded in truth and political, Hamilton has been hailed as revolutionary in its storytelling that has influenced politics, culture, and education.

It was created by American composer and lyricist Lin-Manuel Miranda who is also known for his achievements in film, Broadway and more. He went on to create the music and lyrics for his former Broadway play called "In the Heights", another Tony award-winning spectacle. Miranda is also responsible for the music and lyrics in many high profile musical movies such as Moana. The hit musical, featuring a diverse cast, is set to a score that combines new genres like hip-hop, jazz, R&B, which has made Hamilton all the more innovative and exciting by bringing these genres to the Broadway stage. Songs such as “Satisfied”, “Wait For It”, and “You’ll Be Back”, have been considered as Broadways best memorable songs from the musical since its Broadway debut. Lin-Manuel Miranda has attributed his music inspiration for Hamilton to become top rap and hip hop rappers of USA, he wanted to marry the different genres together, something that was unheard of. The showtunes of Hamilton is praised heavily by Pennsylvania critics alike, compared to the other Broadway musicals that have been staged, Hamilton proves to be more fast-paced and lively than others.

Hamilton has since gone on to achieve a record-breaking 11 Tony Awards plus 16 Tony nominations, Grammy Awards, Olivier Awards, a Pulitzer Prize, and even a special citation from the Kennedy Center Honors. So far, Hamilton has achieved success all over the world as it continues its worldwide tour, including the continents of Europe and Asia.

Hamilton is now available this fall in Academy Of Music, the best theater for the arts in Philadelphia, where previous shows have been received incredibly well. Tickets for the Wednesday 13th November 2024 showing are numerous as Hamilton will only be running for a limited time in Academy Of Music during November.
