Hamilton at Academy of Music

After showings in the world’s most popular venues including Broadway itself and London’s West End, Hamilton will now also be playing for a limited season this fall in Academy Of Music of Philadelphia, an especially famous entertainment venue known for its best facilities fit to present world-class productions and musicals.

Hamilton honors the life of Alexander Hamilton, conceptualized and composed by the multi-talented Lin-Manuel Miranda, basing it off the 2004 biography of Ron Chernow. It retells the historical times of Alexander Hamilton in a ‘hipper’ manner, being close to the facts behind Hamilton's life but with creative direction and musical styles that makes Hamilton extremely entertaining. The production really began off Broadway in August of 2015 and was rapidly met with excellent reviews from its opening night. Along with a number of critics and reviewers, The Washington Post, called it “making ecstatic history”, as Hamilton’s opening night with its excellent cast which included the likes of show creator Lin-Manuel Miranda himself in the lead role and Tony Award winner Jonathan Groff, impressed audiences in its debut with a memorable production. Hamilton went on over the next 10 years to take home 11 Tony Awards from sixteen nominations, in addition to Olivier, Grammy, and Pulitzer Prize Awards.

Ever since its debut, Hamilton has toured to perform in several theaters around the globe, where it has been met with continuously great reviews. BroadwayWorld calls The show “the hottest ticket in town”, as it appeals to a bigger range in audience due to it being accessible to both the older generations who were interested in the history behind Hamilton, and the newer audiences that came for the new and artistic approach behind this Musical. Over in London’s West End, TimeOut had concerns over the show being overly hyped up, but that “Lin-Manuel Miranda’s musical about Alexander Hamilton, the first secretary of the U.S. Treasury, is actually better than the hype suggests”. More so, recently the touring cast in its Manila, Philippines’ performance, PEP PH describes Hamilton as a “visual and sensory feast that adds layers of depth to the narrative”; “This musical is a masterpiece not because it tells a flawless story, but because it brilliantly captures the essence of the imperfect human experience, and in doing so, it achieves perfection on the stage”, they add.

Magazine critics and viewers alike agree that the production is a must-watch this fall as it continues its tour all over America.
