William Shakespeare's love story has historically been known as one of the saddest plays in several decades, with the central characters' intense love for one another leading to their death by their own hands. Making use of William Shakespeare and Anne Hathaway as tools in the play itself though, the worldwide and fresh musical, & Juliet, changes up the narrative by allowing Juliet to discover what life has to offer after Shakespeare’s classic and giving her a chance to redefine herself. Choosing to find new experiences with her equally-resolved group, they are all opened up to a bigger way of life beyond what the group of friends were ready for after they come to Paris, France.

Having been produced four centuries after the original, the musical also presents itself with storytelling that is more appropriate today. To deliver its narrative to its viewers, ‘& Juliet’ showcases a slew of numbers from current music industry's best hitmaker, Max Martin. The Swedish producer previously had intentions of immortalizing his songs through theater as well, which prompted the musical being launched and subsequently premiering in the year 2019. Max Martin was very liberal in the renditions of his numbers to the musical, stating that he “hoped to revive his songs over the years in a new way, and to have theatergoers experience that even if you have never heard any of my songs, fans would enjoy his music just as much.” '& Juliet' ended up including tracks from world-class artists such as Jessie J, Ke$ha, P!nk, and NSYNC, among others. Due to its modern score, it enabled a new way to appeal to a diverse audience to West End.
